About Us: ABA Insurance Services

ABA Insurance Services is a Managing General Agency that serves the banking industry by offering professional liability and bond insurance coverage to community banks across the country.

Our insurance program for banks dates back 25 years. During the mid-1980s, it became difficult for financial institutions to obtain affordable insurance due to instability in the banking industry. To assist community banks, the American Bankers Association formed a mutual reinsurance company to partner with the Progressive Group of Insurance Companies, creating the ABA Sponsored Insurance Program.

The mutual reinsurance company, American Bankers Mutual Insurance Ltd., is owned by ABA member banks that are insured in the program. As a mutual reinsurer, the company has declared 22 consecutive annual distributions to ABA member insureds totaling $76.8 Million to date.
